It's a Dark and Chilly Morning!

ROASTING PUMPKIN SEEDS

To carve a pumpkin, lift its lid -

Inside, it's moist and mucky.

You wonder how will you get rid

Of such a mess of yucky

Stretched strings like slimy rubber bands?

The seeds, they're what you save.

So roll your sleeves up,

plunge your hands Right through its brains.

Be brave!

You wash the guck off,

line with foil A big flat baking pan,

Turn oven on, drench seeds in oil,

And toast 'em till they tan.

A shake of salt?

That just might help.

Don't burn 'em, don't ignite 'em.

They'll come out blazing hot - don't yelp -

Count ten before you bite 'em.

They'd be a hard thing to improve.

What's more, on Halloween night

By taking all those seeds out, you've

Made room for candlelight!

GOOD MORNING !

Don’t those pumpkin seeds sound good ? The only time of year that we ever had them was Halloween and the kids thought they were the best treat they’d ever had. But no one ever asked if we could have them any other time. Just like Pumpkin Pie – everyone always loves it, but we only have that at Thanksgiving. I guess you just have to save some things for the Holidays and that’s what makes them soooo extra good.

Last night’s prayer group was very interesting. The pictures we took were to show how different our life and surroundings were this week compared to even a month ago. This is the way our faith is. It’s always changing too--hopefully growing!

There are lots of things that help increase our faith. One of them being groups like the one I attended. Others might be the people we associate with, the churches we go to, the quiet times spent in nature etc….

Newsweek magazine had an issue in September on Faiths of different religions and we talked about some of the highlights of the different articles in there. My daughter usually saves Newsweeks for me, hopefully she got that one. It was very good. One of the Sisters had just been on a retreat and one of the priests that was there had actually worked with Mother Teresa in Calcutta. Wouldn’t that be an experience. I would have loved to have heard what he had to say.

Now I’m off to work !

 ***BIG SMILE***

May your day be filled with Sunshine and Smiles!

Be Blessed!

I miss the 'good ole days" when neighbors visited over the fences. I try to do that once in awhile.
Have a wonderful day.

Our town is small and has that comfy, cozy feeling for the most part.  Although life keeps up busy with our own families, we still find time to go out and chat with the neighbors or if we're working in the yard, people always stop to chat.  We've gotten our pumpkins and the kids can not wait to stick their hands in the guck.  The best part is roasting the seeds.  Yum! :)
