OVER THE HUMP DAY -WHEW!

In the beauty of a snowflake

Falling softly on the land

Is the mystery and miracle

Of God's great, creative hand

 Helen Steiner Rice

Today observe the loveliness of a wintry scene. Each snow-flake, like each human being, is special and has its own individual characteristics.

Good Morning !

Well, we do not have any flakes to look at today, but they say we will tomorrow! I did the search on Christmas ideas and WOW there is a lot out there . I made a list and each day I will try and do some of them.

On my CHRISTMAS TO DO LIST today:

Arrange a couple of poinsettias in a bare corner and tie big, bright bows around the pots

Hang a favorite Christmas ornament from your car's rearview mirror

Drink from a Christmas coffee mug

Record a cheerful Christmas greeting on your answering machine

AND MY FAVORITE SO FAR

Be ready with a smile or a hug

***BIG SMILE*** I can do that one! And it doesn't cost a cent!

It's the middle of the week and am I glad . Just 2 more days until the weekend comes. After 4 days off last week this one seems extra long.

Because you're extra special

And nice the whole year through,

I'm hoping Santa Claus

Will be just as nice to you!

May your holidays sparkle with Joy !

Tuesday morning already !

What is the real good?

I asked in musing mood.

Order, said the court;

Knowledge, said the school;

Truth, said the wise man;

Love, said the maiden;

Beauty, said the page;

Freedom, said the dreamer;

Home, said the sage;

Equity, said the seer.

 Spake my heart full sadly,

 The answer is not here.

Then within my bosom

Softly this I heard:

Each heart holds the secret;

 Kindness is the word.

British Weekly

 The flower automatically leans toward the warmth the sun brings to it; seeking and sinking hearts are no different. Cold blasts of wrath wreck tender hearts who would come alive with only a word of love

 GOOD MORNING !

The wind blew some more cold weather our way today ! I'm back to layering up! Sunday and Monday were pretty mild , but that was just a little teaser...

Now that Thanksgiving is over I'll be searching for lots of good poems quotes and an idea or two for Christmas to share with you all. This is my favorite holiday of the year!

***BIG SMILE***

Our family celebration will be on the 17th of December and besides my own children and their families, this is my turn to host Christmas for my parents and my sisters and their families too! So it will be a big crowd and I always like to do something a little bit 'special' for everyone. Soooo I'll be searching to see what I might be able to do that doesn't cost a lot.

I'm making all the gifts for my own family this year. The only thing that will be purchased will be the stocking stuffers. I always fill stockings for each one of my children. Now that they have families, the stockings include something for everyone in each family. Trying to keep it all even has gotten to be impossible.

 Well, I've gone on too long this morning and have finished the coffee - so I'm off to work! Have a 'sunny' day!

BACK TO WORK

Autumn memories take me

back to times so long ago...

to hayrides by the river,

with the harvest moon aglow.

The air was crisp at sundown,

but our hearts were warm and light...

with autumn, comes the memories,

of our campfire glowing bright.

But autumn turns to winter,

and the colors turn to gray...

yet in my heart, there'll always be,

a bit of autumn here to stay.

This is one of my very favorite poems. My husband and I loved camping and I have such fond memories of the time we spent together.

Good Morning !

Back to work after a delightfully long weekend. I'll be getting a few days off again at Christmas, my gift to me, and I'm sure I'll be needing them .

Enjoying winter tip fortoday : In winter, people observe Christmas, the eight-day Jewish festival called Hanukkah, the seven-day Afrocentric celebration known as Kwanzaa and the festive end of Ramadan, a monthlong Muslim observance. This gives people of all faiths a chance to light candles, exchange gifts, remember the past and lift their forks

SUDDENLY SUNDAY!

I use to have a Comfort Zone

Where I knew I couldn't fail

The same four walls of busy work

Were really more like jail.

I longed so much to do the things

I'd never done before,

But I stayed inside my Comfort Zone

And paced the same old floor

I said it didn't matter,

That I wasn't doing much

I said I didn't care for things

Like diamonds, furs and such

I claimed to be so busy

With the things inside my zone,

But deep inside I longed for

Something special of my own.

I couldn't let my life go by,

Just watching others win.

I held my breath and stepped outside

 And let the change begin.

I took a step and with new strength

I'd never felt before, I

 kissed my Comfort Zone goodbye

And closed and locked the door.

If you are in a Comfort Zone,

Afraid to venture out,

Remember that all winners were

At one time filled with doubt.

A step or two and words of praise,

Can make your dreams come true.

Greet your future with a smile,

Success is there for you!

With God's grace you can make it!

GOOD MORNING !

I cannot believe it is SUNDAY already.

Busy Busy days and many more to come. So as usual I'm taking some time out this morning and going to church. Remember to BLESS YOUR SPIRIT in some way today too.

We need that more than ever these days. Maybe that is why we have Advent. A time of preparation and hope.

ENJOYING WINTER TIP FOR TODAY

Beauty abounds during winter. It's a different beauty than the lush spread of summer, but its beauty is indisputable. The illuminated sky on a winter night reflects the spotless snow for miles on end, producing an almost ethereal glow. Close examination of the humble snowflake reveals its incomprehensible intricacy -- it is a pattern within a pattern, created by omnipotent Genius for our viewing pleasure. And face it snow could have been black, grey, or brown, with utterly different results. The pure white is definitely uplifting.

It is raining here this morning and our snow will be melting and we will once again be in the 50's by Tuesday. However, the snow will be back with more cold temps soon. Of that there is no doubt. Winter in Northern Ohio begins in November and lasts til April .

May our dear Lord bless your with lots of SUNSHINE in your heart and a ***BIG SMILE*** today !

SUPER SATURDAY

I woke up today

Feeling so down

Even the cat

Would not come around

The light in the window

Was dingy and gray

 I thought I'll just pass

 On this cold, dreary day

I fell back to dreaming

Of warm summer days

And nights lit by starlight

For dancing away

Or just sitting and talking

To a friend, maybe two

That's when I remembered

Someone special,

that's you

I guess I just smiled

Cause the cat's come around

He just seems to know

I'm on the rebound

GOOD MORNING !

 I found the little poem above and just had to share it with you all.

Winter is here, not on the calendar, but on the ground, and I do feel like staying in those warm covers a little longer each day. I also want to go to bed earlier each night too! Neither one happens, Too much to do !

Getting up early and journaling does help to get my old brain cranking!

 ENJOYING WINTER TIP FOR THE DAY

People who love outdoor sports can play all winter, skiing, ice skating, ice-fishing, snowmobiling, sledding, snowboarding, dog sledding, ice climbing and camping. I am not a skier, but I wouldn't mind hanging out at a mountain lodge, slurping mulled wine or hot cider and waiting for Robert Redford to show up.

A LITTLE THOUGHT FOR TODAY

Do justice, love kindness, walk humbly with God--

With these three things as your rule and your rod

All things worth having are yours to achieve

If you follow God's words and have faith to believe!

Not money or gifts or material things,

And put goodness and mercy back into our days

GOOD MORNING !

 Today is a FAMILY FUN DAY !  DD , DS# 5 and #6 and my 2 dulcimer buddies and I are headed for our annual Christmas in the Colonies Day. It will be a cold snowy one as we travel from one shop to another.

Take good care all ! The snow machine here in Northern Ohio is still blowing !

TODAY'S TIP FOR ENJOYING WINTER:

Shimmering snow works magic on neighborhoods. It covers up vacant lots and garbage, broken streets and the scraps of broken dreams

ONE FINAL THOUGHT ON THANKSGIVING

No day should not be a day of thanksgiving - the blessings of our lives fill the cornucopia, and are sufficiently super-abundant to inspire us to at least remember to thank God at the beginning, and middle, and end of EACH day

HAPPY THANKSGRIVING !

Thank You, God, for everything ...

The big things and the small,

For every good gift comes from God ...

The Giver of them all.

And all too often we accept

 Without any thanks or praise,

The gifts You send as blessings

Each day in many ways.

And so at this Thanksgiving time,

We offer up a prayer;

To thank You, God,

 for giving us

A lot more than our share.

First, thank You for the little things

That often come our way;

The things we take for granted

And don't mention when we pray.

The unexpected courtesy,

The thoughtful, kindly deed,

A hand reached out to help us ...

 In the time of sudden need.

Oh, make us more aware, dear God,

Of little daily graces,

That come to us with sweet surprise,

From never-dreamed-of places.

Then, thank You for the miracles

We are much too blind to see,

And give us new awareness

Of our many gifts from Thee.

And help us to remember

That the key to life and living,

Is to make each prayer a prayer of thanks,

And every day THANKSGIVING.

~ Helen Steiner Rice ~

GOOD MORNING !

 A very Happy Thanksgiving to you! Yes, we do have a white Thanksgiving today! Before I went to bed last night we had about 2 inches. This morning it looks we did not get much more.   Hopefully the roads are all clear and salted down for our travelers today.

 I am snug as a bug in my warm house, sipping my goooood coffee and slowly waking up and enjoying every moment. I love days when there is no rush to do anything. I do not have to leave the house at all today and fully intend to take advantage of it.

TODAYS TIP FOR ENJOYING WINTER:

In winter, people stomp around in full-length fake or real furs, sweeping capes, down-turned hats,waterproof boots, d own-filled coats, red ski jackets and thick leggings. You can wear three different outfits at once without looking odd.

And here is the last of my Turkey jokes:

 What was the turkey doing in the Thanksgiving Day Parade?

Playing the drumsticks!

Q: Why wouldn't the turkey eat any dessert?

A: He was stuffed!

I hope you all are enjoying the holiday with family and friends and sharing a ***BIG SMILE*** with everyone you greet.

My heart is full of SUNSHINE today !

God Bless !

Happy Wednesday!

SAD EYES

 I know I'm just a spud,

with my eyes I can see

Just what Thanksgiving is not suppose to be.

 I am set aside till it's my cooking time,

Dad is complaining,

I cost more than a dime.

The turkey sure comes from the store quite bare.

Mom grumbles that it takes so much care.

 The dried bread will be mixed with spices and eggs.

She will stuff it up tight,

And tie up it's legs.

 Vegetables are chopped and cooked just right,

Then placed by the pies,

baked late last night.

Cranberry sauce was chilled in a turkey shaped mold,

Junior is whinning,

that is much too cold.

 Each one seemed to do their parts,

But OH MY!

where are their hearts?

 I, a lowly spud have but one special wish,

PLEASE each one thank GOD,

before you pick up my dish

 GOOD MORNING !

The last day of the work week and then 4 (four) one, two, three, four days off !

An Alberta Clipper is supposed to be blowing our way bringing a white Thanksgiving! I will be letting you know in the Morning how much came our way.

Living so close to Lake Erie, we often get the Lake effect, and of course the Lake is not frozen over yet. Very often, though the snow goes east of Cleveland in what they call the snow belt.

OVER THE HUMP DAY - MIDDLE OF MY WORK WEEK!

How wonderful it would be if we could

 help our children and grandchildren to

learn thanksgiving at an early age.

 Thanksgiving opens the doors.

 It changes a child's personality.

A child is resentful, negative or thankful.

Thankful children want to give,

 they radiate happiness,

 they draw people.

Sir John Templeton

This is the time of year, when we're reminded to give thanks. Instead of waiting until next year, to be reminded - Let's make every day one of thanksgiving! After all, each day is a unique gift.

~~ So ~~

Give a hug - For no reason;

Say I love you - Just because;

Share a smile with a stranger;

Take time - Count your blessings;

Don't take anything or anyone for granted;

 End each day with no regrets.

TODAY'S TIP FOR ENJOYING WINTER

Winter is the perfect time to tap your toes to tunes such as Let It Snow, I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm, The Christmas Song, Jingle Bells, White Christmas and Walking in a Winter Wonderland. However, anyone who insists on playing Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer  should be forced to eat fruitcake
