BOOK 08, CHAPTER 8, PAGE 11

God has given us

these times of Joy

Psalm 81:4

The late Dr. William Stidger once told about a young friend of his who was awakened by his wife early one morning. They had planned a picnic, but about five o'clock it started raining.

"It's raining hard, George," his wife finally said, "you'd better go downstairs and pull in the porch furniture." He went down and got himself half soaked. When he turned around to go back in he saw his little five-year-old boy, clad in pajamas, sitting on the door step smelling the rain.

The little boy said, "Daddy, that rain smells good. I like the smell of rain." The little fellow paused a moment, then added: "Daddy, isn't this a gorgeous bad day?"

Cultivate the happy side of life. That is what the Bible tells us: " Rejoice, it says, and again I say, rejoice" (Philippians 4:4). Don't go around with a gloomy, melancholy attitude. Don't take a negative attitude toward life. Don't think depressing thoughts. Rejoice. Now when you really do it, you will find that the percentage of good days will greatly increase.

Dr. Norman Vincent Peale

A TIME TO ENJOY

GOOD MORNING !

It is Monday all too soon and it’s back to work again. The weekend wasa good one for family celebrations. Saturday was the graduation party for DDIL#6 and Sunday I had a little birthday dinner celebration with DS#5. It was his birthday on Saturday also.  I ate well for sure!

Sunday we had a huge cool down here weather wise. Sweaters and sweat shirts were needed. One minute the sun was out and the next it was raining. A day without the air conditioner running and some fresh air coming in the house was a blessing.

I had to put on a jacket in order to sit out on the porch Sunday evening and there was the smell of wood smoke in the air making it seem even more fall like.. It will warm back up this week though and be mostly sunny.

Summer isn’t over yet.

Really cute little recipe. Our weather has also cooled down. It should be nice working in the garage today... Thank You Lord. I may have to put jeans on instead of shorts to work in the garage this morning?? Have a great day. Janie

Makes me think of the old adage, "Is your
cup half full,  or half empty?"  It depends
upon one's perspective and attitude.  I
like the freshness after the rain, too.  I
hope you have a good week.   Pat

Lovely story about the little boy and the rain.  Yes, we should all enjoy even that because at least we are here to see it.  Glad you had a good weekend.
