CHAPTER 7, PAGE 14

Why Worry?

40% Of the things I worry about

will never happen,

for anxiety is the result of a tired mind.

30% Concern old decisions

which cannot be altered.

12% center in criticisms, mostly untrue,

made by people who feel inferior.

10% is related to my health

which worsens while I worry.

08% is legitimate,

showing that life does have real problems

which may be met head on when

I have eliminated senseless worries.

GOOD MORNING !

It’s Friday morning and it will be a good day today. The weekend is now just around the corner!

As usual, I don’t have any big plans, just the normal ‘house blessing’ etc. But I’m looking forward to it!

I found the little item above about worry and just thought I'd post it for you all.  It's soooo true.  Most of what we worry about only makes us feel worse, so it's best NOT to worry.  I'm usually like the person in the thought for today below!

For at least one day the rain is supposed to stop , but the temps are rising and it’ll be very hot here.

I received the pictures above of my 'sunshine' boys just yesterday and since I'd not had some for awhile, thought I'd post them for you all to see how they have grown.  Their mom says it's pretty hot where they live and usually they only get out to play in the mornings before it heats up.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

Blessed is the person who is too busy to worry in the daytime, and too sleepy to worry at night.

CHAPTER 7, PAGE 13

Promise Yourself

Promise yourself to be so strong

that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.

To talk health, happiness, and prosperity

to every person you meet.

To make all your friends feel

like there is something in them.

To look at the sunny side of everything

and make your optimism come true.

To think only of the best,

to work only for the best,

and expect only the best.

To be just as enthusiastic about the success

of others as you are about your own.

To forget the mistakes of the past

and press on the greater achievements of the future.

To wear a cheerful countenance at all times

and give every living person you meet a smile.

To give so much time to the improvement of yourself

that you have no time to criticize others.

To be too large for worry, too noble for anger,

and too strong for fear, and too happy

to permit the presence of trouble.

GOOD MORNING !

I think Ohio just became part of the RAIN forest. It’s been raining here all week. The humidity is so high you feel like you are dripping by just stepping outside.

I cut off my curly locks and now have a short straight ??? hair- do. I couldn’t control those curls in the humidity. It was nice for the cooler weather, but perspiration and lots of hair spray were just not mixing .

This week is going by pretty fast and so far work has been busy. I put in 5 hours overtime this past week. Our pay period’s run Wednesday through Tuesday. Most of that was by not having a lunch hour. I only had 15 minutes to my self at lunch yesterday as I went to Super K for office supplies during lunch time. I ate at my desk afterwards.

We’ll see what today what today brings…you never know til you are there.

Thought for Today

The honey-bee's great ambition is to be rich, to lay up great stores, to possess the sweet of every flower that blooms. She is more than provident. Enough will not satisfy her, she must have all she can get by hook or crook.

CHAPTER 7, PAGE 12

I have resisted change with all my will,

cried out to life

"Pass by & leave me still"

But I have found as I

have trudged times track

That all my wishing

will not hold life back,

all finite things must go their finite way;

I cannot bid the merest moment, "stay"

so finding that I have no power to change,

I have changed myself.

And this is strange.

But I have found out that

when I let change come

the very change that was fleeing from

has often held the good I prayed for.

And I was not the less for change,

but more.

Once I accepted life

and was not loath to change,

I found change was the seed of growth.

GOOD MORNING!

The changes in my life have been great and many, and somehow they just don’t stop. Some things however, remain the same, and I’m often thankful for daily routines that help keep me going.

The morning start – my devotions, my coffee and my journal – is one routine that I enjoy. Blending the old and the new isn't a bad thing at all.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

CHAPTER 7, PAGE 11

HOW TO HAVE A HAPPY DAY

A heart full of thankfulness,

A thimbleful of care;

A soul of simple hopefulness,

An early morning prayer.

A smile to greet the morning with;

A kind word as the key

To open the door and greet the day,

What’er it brings to thee.

A patient trust in Providence,

To sweeten all the way,

All these, combined with thoughtfulness,

Will make a happy day.

GOOD MORNING !

I am up and sipping the good coffee. I sure hope it wakes me up soon. . It was such a gloomy day yesterday, that all I really felt like doing was sleeping.

I hope today is better, although we are not supposed to see sun at all today . The weatherman says there is a chance of rain all week.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

We have no right to ask when sorrow comes, "Why did this happen to me?" unless we ask the same question for every joy that comes our way.

CHAPTER 7, PAGE 10

BE THE BEST

If you can't be a pine on the top of a hill,

Be a shrub in the valley - but be

The best little shrub by the side of the hill;

Be a bush if you can't be a tree.

If you can't be a bush, be a bit of the grass,

And some highway happier make;

If you can't be a muskie then just be a bass-

But the liveliest bass in the lake!

We can't all be captains,

we've got to be crew,

There's something for all of us here,

There's big work to do and there's lesser to do,

And that task we must do is near.

If you can't be a highway, then just be a trail,

If you can't be the sun, be a star;

It isn't by size that you win or you fail-

Be the best of whatever you are!

Good Morning !

Today it’s off to work with a smile again . Might as well smile because this is all that’s being offered right now. I can get down and out about it or enjoy it. I think I’ll choose to enjoy it.

All the fields along the way to work are filling up with lots of good things, corn, soybeans and hay. A much better sight to be seen than the frozen ground bleak in winter.

The farmers road side stands are beginning to open up here and will soon have lots of fresh produce for all to enjoy. There is nothing better than fresh veggies from the garden. We’ usually get to enjoy these delights until about October then the frost takes care of the gardens and we once again return to things at the store that are shipped in.

Years ago I followed in the footsteps of my grandmother and mother and ‘put things up’ for the winter. We canned or froze things from the garden to enjoy all winter. Even those preserved tomatoes, corn, peaches and green beans had more flavor in them than the cans we buy in the store.

When I returned to the workforce there was no time for all that and now I have only me to feed, so I just enjoy the fresh stuff in small quantities while it’s in season.

A litte rain and warmer temps are forecast for this week. We need the rain so that’ll be a good thing.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

You Never Know

You never know when someone might

catch a dream from you.

Or something you say may

open up the windows of a mind

that seeks light;

The way you live may not matter at all,

But you never know, it might.

And just in case it could be

that another's life, through you,

might possibly change for the better

with a better and brighter view,

it seems it might be worth a try

at pointing the way to the right;

Of course, it may not matter at all,

but then again, it might.

CHAPTER 7, PAGE 9

The longer I live

The more I realize the impact

of attitude on life.

Attitude, to me,

is more important than the past,

Than education, Than money,

Than circumstances,

Than failures, Than success,

Than what other people

think or say or do.

It is more important than appearance,

Giftedness or skill.

It will make or break an organization,

A school, a home.

The remarkable thing is

we have a choice every day

Regarding the attitude

we will embrace for that day.

We cannot change our past.

We cannot change the fact that people

will act in a certain way.

We cannot change the inevitable.

The only thing we can do

Is play the string we have.

And that is our attitude.

I am convinced that

life is 10 percent

what happens to me

And 90 percent how

I react to it. And so it is with you.

Author unknown

GOOD MORNING !

Our attitude is so important. Everyday I try to keep mine ‘On the Bright Side’ It’s not always very easy either. It takes a lot of work some days. I suppose that’s why I started collecting all the little poems, stories and thoughts that I share with you all. I also do my Bible study and read several morning devotions.

Knowing that others have had some hard times and have endured them makes us feel that we too can make it. From the beginning of time, people have not always made good choices, but we can learn from our mistakes and start each day fresh and new.

It’s my R & R day and going to church always helps me to get through another week. Somehow, I’m refreshed and renewed and given the strength to continue the journey once more. I’ll be praying for all of you today and asking our dear Lord to help you with whatever your needs may be. I found that with God all things are possible…we just have to believe.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

Thank you, God, for brushing

The dark clouds from my mind

And leaving only sunshine

And joy of heart behind.

CHAPTER 7, PAGE 8

Family ties are precious things

woven through the years,

of laughter, love and tears.

Family ties are cherished things

forged in childhood days,

by love of parents deep and true,

by tradition, by family ways

Family ties are treasured things

and far though we may roam,

the tender bond with those we love

still pull our hearts toward home.

Author Unknown

GOOD MORNING !

Isn’t it the truth. There is just no place like home. I remember when we used to go to my grandparents, my Mom always said we were going home.

They lived on a farm in the hills of West Virginia and a more beautiful spot you’ll never see. The farm was nestled in a valley and the house had a winding creek right behind it. There was a swinging bridge that you had to cross to get to the other side.

I spent lots of summer days sitting on that bridge fishing for these tiny little fish called Sun fish. I have lots of wonderful memories of ‘home’ And the thing that makes these memories so wonderful is the people there.

My grandparents always made you feel loved and very special. I can only hope that some day my grand’babes’ will have memories of ‘home’ too!

The course of human history is determined,

not by what happens in the skies,

but by what takes place in our hearts.
