TODAY'S THOUGHT

And now here is my secret, a very simple secret; it is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye.

Antoine de Saint-Exupery

TODAY’S ACTION

Be kind to yourself.

TODAY’S QUOTE

A well-developed sense of humor is the pole that adds balance to your steps as you walk the tightrope of life.

William A. Ward

HAPPY SUNDAY

Yesterday morning we had a nice 2 inches of snow on the ground but it all mostly melted by afternoon. Today we should have some sunshine and probably a little warmer weather and by the end of this coming week it should be in the 50’s…sounds like Spring to me!

I had some good news from my Dad yesterday and that was that his tests were all negative . Thank the good Lord ! That is good news !

I’m off to church as usual and hopefully will get a few things done at home later.

Have a great day all ! Another wonderful one on the Way !

Please pray for God's protection of our troops and HIS wisdom for their commanders.

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

25 WORDS

God, I thank You for today, for the ways You will bless me, and for the ways that I will serve others in Your name

TODAY IS… I CAN CROCHET DAY

The origin of crochet is up for grabs. China? Turkey? North Africa? The word "crochet" comes from the French work croc (meaning hook), but there is no record of this needlework before the 1800s. Written instructions were being published in the 1840s, but most patterns were handed down through family and friends. Girls were taught to crochet holding the hook like a pencil because it was considered graceful. They know today that holding the hook in the palm of your hand cuts down on carpal tunnel problems.

TODAY’S TRIVIA

Today is Buzzard Sunday in Hinckley, Ohio, the 50th anniversary of the buzzards return each year from the Great Smokey Mountains to Hinckley Ridge in Ohio

Today is National Lacy Oatmeal Cookie Day

1850: Henry Wells and William Fargo formed America’s first stagecoach freight line. They called it the American Express, but later changed the name to Wells-Fargo.

1961: Poppin’ Fresh, the Pillsbury Doughboy was born.

TODAY’S SMILE

Here's a bit of advice to help you in your end-times contemplation :)...

Don't worry about the world coming to an end today: it's already tomorrow in Australia.

And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

-Luke 21:27

TODAY’S WORD

Abstain \ub-STAYN\ verb :

to refrain deliberately and often with an effort of self-denial from an action or practice

It is now recommended that pregnant women abstain from alcohol and certain medications until after delivery.

TODAY’S REFLECTION

O GOD, Thou art my God; I shall seek Thee earnestly; My soul thirsts for Thee, my flesh yearns for Thee, In a dry and weary land where there is no water. Thus I have beheld Thee in the sanctuary, To see Thy power and Thy glory.

Psalm 63: 1- 2

In this song of David, we see that he seeks God early in the morning. When David first opens his physical eyes, he also seeks God as he opens his spiritual eyes.

David sets the tone of the day by starting his day seeking God. David understands that nothing in the physical world on earth can satisfy his immortal soul.

We will find our happiness in the Lord. This weary old world is a desert – our hope lies in our true home, heaven? Reach up as far as you can, and God will reach down all the way.

John H. Vincent.

TODAY’S ADVICE FROM THE OLD FARMER’S ALMANAC

CHAPTER 3, PAGE 17

There are many, many legends

About Saint Patrick's Day,

About the Shamrock and the Blarney

And the leprechauns at play;

And that most delightful story

That God blessed the Emerald Isle

With the beauty of His goodness

And the sunshine of His smile;

And how a dear, beloved Saint

Taught the Irish about God

Just by showing them a Shamrock

That was grown on Erin's sod.

He told them of the Trinity,

The living Three In One;

The Holy Ghost ... the Father,

And His beloved Son.

And all these lovely legends

Of the well-known Irish race,

Have given every Irishman

A very special place,

 Not only just in history

 But in everybody's heart,

For of this old earth's laughter,

The dearest, finest part

Is made of "smiling Irish eyes"

And mirth-filled Irish jokes;

And what a dull world this would be

Without God's Irish folks.

Helen Steiner Rice

GOOD ‘TOP OF THE MORNIN’ TO YOU ALL

True to our part of the country, St. Patrick’s Day has brought another snow storm to our area. Not a bad one, but enough just to let us know winter isn’t over yet. Only 3 days now til Spring and I’m ready for it.

Today is my usual day with Dad. I hope it won’t be much longer and he’ll be able to be on his own more. He’s getting around pretty good and uses his cane for extra support . He can get up out of his chair with out any help, so he is stronger. It’s just that at his age healing does take longer I guess. We’re still waiting to hear what the latest tests he had show.

Hope you all have a grand St. Patrick’s Day!

May you always have...

A sunbeam to warm you,

Good luck to charm you,

And a sheltering angel

So nothing can harm you,

Laughter to cheer you,

Faithful friends near you,

And whenever you pray,

Heaven to hear you.

May your joys

Be deep and many,

May your heart be light and glad,

May you have the best St. Patrick's Day

That you have ever had.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

Hope is the physician of every misery.

Irish Proverb

May your day be blessed with a few SMILES and lots of SUNSHINE to warm your heart

CHAPTER 3, PAGE 16

The Wish

I caught a little leprechaun, quite wise and very old and he said to me, "You have one wish, would you like my pot of gold?"

"No thank you," was my quick reply, "But how about another... A gift that's truly precious and esteemed above all others?"

He offered then some emeralds, rubies, sapphires, pearls and a host of other treasures that would make your senses whirl!

As I rejected all his list his bright eyes flashed with fire and, angrily, he said to me: "What is it you desire?"

I said: "A rainbow's far more beautiful than its' supposed treasure and the 'rainbow' that I'm wishing for is priceless beyond measure.

"I'd like to have the dearest friends a person ever had to share in all the good times and help me through the bad... "

To laugh and sing and joke with, love and appreciate as we live life's greatest adventure that would certainly be great!"

"Oh, now I know you're daft!" he said as he ran off with his pot...

"to waste your wish on something you have already got!"

GOOD MORNING !

I know tomorrow is St. Patrick’s day but I had several Irish poems and quotes so I thought I’d stretch it out put some in here today.

For each petal on the shamrock

This brings a wish your way -

Good health, good luck, and happiness

For today and every day.

I really do have some Irish blood in me…it is a little diluted with Hungarian, English, German, French, Dutch and American Indian but it is there. I guess I can celebrate quite a few different nation’s holidays.

That is the grand thing about being an American. Most of us have blended nationalities and we all merge together to form a great country.

I love the Irish tales and the many Irish Blessings . Without a doubt we could all use a few more blessings each day.

Winter has retuned to Ohio and it’ll snow some today and tomorrow. I can’t put away those flannels just yet.

A week from Saturday I’ll be leaving for my trip to visit the ‘Sunshine’ babes. It is a little warmer there so I’ll have to pack some warm weather clothing. I’ll be gone for 4 days and I don’t know if I’ll be posting to my journal or not during that time, I’ll just have to see how things go.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

May the Angels rush to your side, enfold you in their wings, comfort you as is needed, and tickle your nose. :-)

And may your day be blessed with a few SMILES and lots of SUNSHINE to warm your heart !

CHAPTER 3, PAGE 15

The year's at the spring

And day's at the morn;

Morning's at seven;

The hillside's dew-pearled;

 The lark's on the wing;

The snail's on the thorn;

God's in His heaven -

All's right with the world!

Robert Browning

The Spring Season is probably one of the most embraced and most significant of the season changes, for it denotes the start of new life, regeneration of nature and the renewal of the spirit. It is A time to awaken from the long and cold winter season of hibernation. It is the season of rebirth and brings the hope of optimism, the feeling of a fresh beginning following a period of healing.

Good Morning !

BEWARE THE IDES OF MARCH

This is the ‘ hump ‘ day that brings me to the down hill slide out of the winter doldrums into the pleasant valley of Spring time.

I'm afraid my hibernating body has just about reached the height of it's winter slumber by mid March each year.

Once this day is over, I'll be perking up a little more each day. By the time summer comes I'll be at my glory (mentally if not physically). Then with the changing seasons as the leaves fall so will my energy once again.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

You can't see Canada across lake Erie, but you know it's there. It's the same with spring. You have to have faith, especially in Cleveland.

CHAPTER 3, PAGE 14

THE HABIT

I am your constant companion.

I am your greatest helper or your heaviest burden.

I will push you onward or drag you down to failure.

I am completely at your command.

Half the things you do you might as well turn over to me,

And I will be able to do them quickly and correctly.

I am easily managed; you must merely be firm with me.

Show me exactly how you want something done,

And after a few lessons I will do it automatically.

I am the servant of all great individuals

And, alas, of all failures as well.

Those who are great I have made great

Those who are failures I have made failures.

I am not a machine,

Though I work with all the precision of a machine

Plus the intelligence of a human being.

You may run me for profit or run me for ruin;

It makes no difference to me.

Take me, train me, be firm with me,

And I will put the world at your feet

Be easy with me, and I will destroy you.

Who am I?

I am habit!

Author Unknown

Good Morning !

Habits ! We all have them.

I’m not going to bare my soul this morning and tell about all my bad habits such as stopping for a breakfast sandwich on my way to work most mornings.

I’ve been trying to develop some good habits. But just like brushing my teeth every morning, if I never start a habit, it will never becomes one.

Years and years ago, I started reading and now I just have to read a little bit every day or else something just isn’t right. I pray when I get up and before I go to bed and very often during the day. I’ve had this habit so long that it must have been started as a child, probably by my mother.

If I’d never started, they would not have become habits. Unless we establish good habits, bad habits will set in that hinder our spiritual growth!

Everything we do in life, from which sock we put on first each morning to how we react to pressure is directly controlled by our physical and mental habits including the level of success we enjoy in our lives.

If I want to make some more good habits, I’d better start or I’ll never have them. My aim is to have more good ones than bad. I am human after all and far from perfect, but I can try.

TODAY’S THOUGHT

The unfortunate thing about this world is that good habits are so much easier to give up than bad ones.

Somerset Maugham

CHAPTER 3, PAGE 13

Some of the Best Moments in Life...

To fall in love.

To clear your last exam.

To find your exam-results much better than you expected.

To feel butterflies in the stomach every time that you see that person.

To pass time with your best friends and family.

To laugh until it hurts your stomach.

To listen to your favorite song on the radio.

To wake up and realize it is still possible to sleep for a couple of hours.

To hear a song that makes you remember a special person.

To receive a call from someone, you don't see a lot, but you want to.

To be part of a team.

To watch the sunset from the hill top.

To go for a vacation to some pretty place.

To go to bed and to listen while it rains outside.

To leave the shower and find that the towel is warm.

To find money in a pant-pocket that you haven't used since last year .

To laugh at yourself looking at mirror.

To laugh without a reason.

To accidentally hear somebody say something good about you.

To make new friends.

To see people that you feel and care for feeling happy.

To use a sweater of the person that you like and find that it still smells of their perfume.

To See an old friend again and to feel that the things have not changed.

To take an evening walk along the beach.

To laugh .laugh........ and laugh ...... remembering stupid things done with stupid friends.

Take time to create those moments.

Author Unknown

GOOD MORNING !

It is great to remember those precious moments in life. I know I love thinking about a beautiful sunrise I’ve seen or the warmth of the sand on the beach. But how often to we take the time to make sure we create some special moments.

Every day we have a gift of 24 hours and what we do with that gift is important. If I said,”sorry, I can’t work today because I’m tired and want to stay in bed, I’d be missed by those I work for , but I would also miss that something precious that might have Happened, sooooo I get up and go each and every morning.

Believe me, there have been many mornings I could have turned off the alarm and gone back to sleep. But I didn’t. There have been many times in my life that I could have just said ‘I give up’ but thankfully I didn’t . I’ve enjoyed each and every precious moment I’ve been given and I still want many more.

I’m going to try and do my best to make some more

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds you plant.

CHAPTER 3, PAGE 12

Things We Can Learn From Our Dogs

(this has been around awhile, but is worth repeating)

Never pass up the opportunity for a joyride.

Allow the experience of fresh air in your face to be pure ecstasy

When a loved one come home always run to greet them.

When it is in your best interest, practice obedience

Let others know when they've invaded your territory.

Take naps and stretch before rising.

Run, romp and play daily.

Eat with gusto and enthusiasm.

Be loyal. Never pretend to be something you're not.

If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them.

Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.

When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

No matter how often you're scolded, don't buy into the guilt thing and pout...run right back and make friends.

Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

Author unknown

Most of us have days when we only remove one foot from our mouths long enough to insert the other. Some of us may stick it in all the way up to the ankle.

You know, the definition of a real friend is someone who knows that even if you say or do something that makes you look like a jerk, the condition is only temporary…

Regrets people have usually are not about the goals they failed to reach, the experiences they never had, or the places they meant to see but never did. Most often their regrets are about the ways they hurt someone or the things they failed to do for certain people. All their lives they have been carrying these heartaches, these very sore places in their minds, and now they think it's too late

The Golden Rule is golden because it is profound and practical. To succeed personally or professionally, treat others as you would like to be treated.

Today's the day!

Good Morning !

BACK TO WORK this morning and after another fast weekend, I sure wish I had another day here at home, but whatever didn’t get done will wait. It always does.

I’m so looking forward to getting some warm weather clothing out of the closet and putting those heavy winter things away. My winter coats are in need of a good cleaning and are looking a little shabby. The grime and salt of winter has just about done them in.

As you can see I finally got out for a walk yesterday. My aim is do this at least 3 times a week. Walking is soooo good for you , it is one of best exercises you can do.

Hope your Monday is a great one, I’m putting on the ***BIG SMILE*** this morning and will be hoping I get a few back too !

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

It's funny how dogs and cats know the inside of folks better than other folks do, isn't it?
