BOOK 08, CHAPTER 3, PAGE 14

Life is short, spring into action and live today’s beginning

Everything in the world we want to do or get done, we must do with and through people. Every dollar we will ever earn must come from people. The person we love, and with whom we want to spend the rest of our life, is a human being with whom we must interact.

Our children are individuals, each different from any other person who ever lived. And what affects them most is our attitude--the loving kindness they see and feel whenever we are around them. If you'll begin to develop and maintain an attitude that says yes to life and the world, you'll be astonished at the changes you'll see.

Earl Nightingale

Our lives are inextricably linked to other human beings, and we do have an effect on them. If a stranger greets us and we hurry by without acknowledging the greeting, we have a negative effect on that person, if only for a few moments. If we say hello and continue on our way, we've acknowledged that person's existence and had a positive effect. And what we give to the world of course comes back to us

GOOD MORNING !

I’m so thankful for my family and friends. It would be a terrible world without anyone around to share our lives with. I’ve found from experience that love does make the world go round and in order to love we need people for sure.

I went to the grocery store for a few things during my lunch time yesterday and there was a lady behind me that was from out of state. She was talking with a friend saying what a good visit she was having and found everyone so friendly and helpful.

Then she also made the comment that our store was in for a report from her as there were lots of people in the store and only two people on the cash registers and that made for a long wait. Well our little store made a bad impression on her and I’m sure someone will get an earful.

The thing is the store is always like that. There is always a wait in line. It’s not the only one to go to, but it is the one that always stocks what I need and so I continue to go there so I can get all my shopping done in one place. I felt badly for the irritated woman but what could I say except that it is always like that.

Our actions both on the personal level and the business level do affect a lot of different people. Maybe her report will bring about some improvements in our store…who knows.

Have a great FRIDAY everyone. Fridays are always good days.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

Look steadily on the bright side of life. Cultivate the grace of a good hope. Imitate the fine optimism of those of whom it is said that they could see stars where their neighbors saw only an unbroken expanse of clouds.

BOOK 08, CHAPTER 3, PAGE 13

Life is short, spring into action and live today’s beginning

God gave us these lives to learn in, to grow in, and to love in. Don’t rush through them. There is no place that you need to be except where you are right now. You were meant to experience life, to cherish life, and to enjoy life: not to hurry through life.

Your life is meant to be a journey of love and happiness not a race to some unseen finish line. Take your time and rejoice in every second that you are given here. Then when you look back on the life you have lived you will see a million moments of love and not a blur of wasted years.

Joseph J. Mazzella

GOOD MORNING !

I know that I'm far too often trying to accomplish as much as I can with the short time that I've been granted on this planet. I often feel that I should spend more time sitting at the table and just enjoying the fact of being, without putting any expectations or worries on myself.

But life intrudes, and bills must be paid and other people have expectations of me that must be fulfilled. Sometimes I just need to sit down and relax and wait for my heart and soul to slow down enough and open up enough to see and understand and accept what life is offering to me.

That is not an easy thing to do. I had the great joy of having a visit from my two sisters last evening. We sat at the table and chatted and drank our good coffee and laughed a lot. My youngest sister brought by some ice cream too ! I wouldn’t trade that for any of the other things I might have done. Wednesday evenings are very often laundry time for me, but that will wait for another day and I loved being together with my sisters for sure. It did my heart some good and probably my soul too.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

When one cannot be sure that there are many days left, each single day becomes as important as a year, and one does not waste an hour in wishing that the hours were longer, but simply fills it, like a smaller cup, as high as it will go without spilling over.

Life is short, spring into action and live today’s beginning

Each of us has the power of making happier, sunnier, the little spot wherein our daily life is spent.

Archbishop of Canterbury

When we can give ourselves something to look forward to, we can make today more pleasant, and we can create something new inside ourselves. Many people don't make plans at all. Somehow they seem to think that if they plan things for their futures, they're setting themselves up for disappointment.

I think having something in the future to look forward to can help our morale and our spirits… to be able to do this so that no matter how trying today or tomorrow may become, we always have in the back of our minds something to look forward to.

Bits and pieces rom my meditations for Tuesday

GOOD MORNING !

My spirits have needed a boost for the past week for sure. I’ve so had it with winter that the only thing that seems to keep me going is that I have my little place in the woods waiting for me.

I imagine I’m a better person to be around if I’m upbeat and optimistic so I do try to be that way. I’m also trying to pick something in each day to look forward to.

Besides my long range plan for camping, I’ve decided I need some little perks along the way. I enjoy reading and right now have 2 good books going…One is the upstairs book the other is the downstairs book. Upstairs I have HOME TO HOLLY SPRINGS by Jan Karon. She wrote the Mitford series and now has this new book out. The downstairs book is a Whitethorn Woods by Maeve Binchy

Besides reading I’m sure there are other little things that will brighten my day, so just like my theme for the month I’ll be springing into action finding some way to pick my self up out of the winter doldrums for life is too short for sure to waste it away.

THOUGHTS FOR TODAY

Spread gladness and cheer. When you do, others will give back to you even more gladness and cheer than you shared with them to begin with! Give to the world the best you have, And the best will come back to you.

Madelyn S. Bridges

Our workaday lives are filled with opportunities to bless others. The power of a single glance or an encouraging smile must never be underestimated.

BOOK 08, CHAPTER 3, PAGE 11

Life is short, spring into action and live today’s beginning

The work of our souls is the real reason we are here, after all. The work of the world may put food in our bellies and clothes on our backs, but the work of our souls puts love in our hearts and joy in our lives.

There is an old saying that goes we all should: "Work to live, but live to love." People can do both. Machines never can.

Remember then to always love from your heart and work from your soul. Every time you share a smile at work God smiles as well.

Every time you bring a little laughter to those you work with you bring laughter to the angels as well. Every time you give a little love from your heart and joy from your soul you do the work of Heaven while still here on Earth.

The work of machines may make our lives better, but it is the work of our souls that make life worth living.

Joseph J. Mazzella

GOOD MORNING !

The day ahead looks to be a pretty good one. We will warm up above freezing and have a partly cloudy day. All is really pretty quiet here after all the excitement of our weekend snow storm .

I think that’s why I love ordinary days so much. That kind of excitement I can do with out. I know that all days be it Tuesday or Saturday are special and I really do value them all.

I must say that the snow piles in the parking lot at work made it very hard to get out and onto the road when I left yesterday. They have them piled up so you cannot see if another car is coming or not. I edged out slowly trying to look and got out safely, but today I think I’ll try and knock that pile down some. What were they thinking???

I’m off to work with a SMILE on my face (dreaming of the BEACH again) and am hoping for a great day! I do hope you all have a good one too!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

The best way to get something done is to begin.

Out to the undiscovered ends,

There's nothing worth the wear of winning,

But laughter and the love of friends.

GOOD MORNING !

I had a good birthday weekend… although a few people said that I didn’t have to be so generous and share my birthday gift with so many. I don’t really think of that snow storm we had as a gift, but then again, maybe it was. We just never know the reasons why things happen. I firmly believe that everything is in the dear Lord’s plan.

Today will be the last of the quiet weeks at work. Our men are back to work this week and that means more of everything to do here in the office. They were all off work almost a month, hope they got plenty rested up because we have a lot of work ahead of us.

Everyone I work with or for is younger than me so mostly I feel like their grand’ma’. It’s up to me to get what they need when they need it, to keep the books in tact and do all the reports and things they need.

Being a one woman office reminds me a lot of what it was like to have a large family. Keeping them all organized was a job in its self for sure.

Here is a bit of encourging news for all of you -- Sunday afternoon as I sat at my computer I saw our robin. She comes every year and builds a nest in the wreath that is at the peak of our porch. Spring must be on the way.

BOOK 08, CHAPTER 3, PAGE 9

Life is short, spring into action and live today’s beginning

O God, We thank you for this earth, our home; for the wide sky and the blessed sun, for the ocean and streams, for the towering hills and the whispering wind, for the trees and green grass.

We thank you for our senses by which we hear the songs of birds, and see the splendor of fields of golden wheat, and taste autumn's fruit, rejoice in the feel of snow, and smell the breath of spring flowers.

Grant us a heart opened wide to all this beauty; and save us from being so blind that we pass unseeing when even the common thornbush is aflame with your glory.

For each new dawn is filled with infinite possibilities for new beginnings and new discoveries. Life is constantly changing and renewing itself.

In this new day of new beginnings with God, all things are possible. We are restored and renewed in a joyous awakening to the wonder that our lives are and, yet, can be.

Amen.

I wake expectant, hoping to see a new thing.

Annie Dillard

GOOD MORNING !

We are Restored and Renewed in a joyous awakening to the wonder that our lives are and, yet, can be

It is R&R day once more. I really didn’t do much else yesterday either. It was very hard to work up any steam to do anything. I’d look outside and shiver…snow and wind blowing the snow and the drifts adding up to 3 and 4 feet just were unbelievable.

Of course there was a few moments of activity when I’d go out and clear some snow away from our doorway and steps but that was about it.

I think our winter storm finally played itself out and we can breathe a little easier today. We’ve lots to be thankful for in that there were no accidents for my family and friends anyway, and no one lost power here.

The wind and the snow kept most people indoors yesterday. I’m going to try and get to church this morning. DD has 4 wheel drive and if she goes to church this morning she’ll come and pick me up, if not I’ll see how the roads are.

They don’t usually do a very good job of clearing our church parking lot so I may just try and walk it if DD doesn’t go. By Monday morning it should be ok to drive to work.

DD and DS#5 and their spouses wanted to take me to Red Lobster yesterday for my birthday so I think they may still try to take me there this evening. We’ll see how the road conditions are.

The pictures above are inside and outside of my house yesterday.  You'll see that I have bits and pieces of Spring and St. Patrick's decorations here and there and you'll see the mounds of snow for sure. I tried to do the pictures the old way so I could put some explanations in but this will have to suffice as the other didn't work.  The gal in the pictures is my next door sister who was snow blowing the driveway.  You'll also see my beagle on the patio .  Poor boy had no place to run and play yesterday...

BOOK 08 CHAPTER 3, PAGE 8

Life is short, spring into action and live today’s beginning

It's only when we truly know and understand that we have a limited time on earth--and that we have no way of knowing when our time is up--that we begin to live each day to the future, as if it was the only one we had.

Elisabeth Kübler-Ross

GOOD MORNING !

Here I am celebrating another year of blessings and thanking the good Lord for them. I’m a grand 64 today! That is a long time to accumulate as many blessings as I’ve received and everyday of my life it seems I’m blessed with more.

I’ve had hard times just like most of you and I’ve been down and out too, but the really great thing is that I keep bouncing back and discovering that life really is worth living.

Life is like a long journey to me and what we do along the way is what counts. At the end of the trip, I’ll be finding out if I learned the lessons sent along the way and I can only hope that I have.

I have had some ‘earth shaking’ events in my life that have caused my deep appreciation for each day. I never miss a day with out telling those I love how much I do love them. I never fail to appreciate the things I have or for that matter what I don’t have.

There are lots of don’t haves that are sometimes worth more than the haves. For instance I don’t have any serious disabilities or illness in my life right now. AndI don’t have to worry about how I’m going to pay my bills as I’m blessed with a job right now. There is a lot to be said for don’t haves.

There will not be much celebrating done here today for my birthday. Everything is pretty much cancelled and closed as we’re having another winter storm. Thankfully it is the weekend and most people don’t have to go out.

We got quite a bit of snow overnight and our heaviest snow is supposed to be this morning and into the afternoon. Probably any celebrating will be done on a different day. If not, we’ll all be getting together next Saturday for our family Easter celebration so I’ll be able to see most of my babes then. Of course that is all weather related too so we’ll see…

9:00 AM  UPDATE ON SNOW....I just finished clearing what looks like another 10 inces of snow off the back steps and patio...my next door SISTER is out with the snow blower in the drive way.  We did about 5 inches last night.  The snow is still coming down heavy.  I'll update this as the day goes along.  This is a MAJOR SNOW STORM.

3:00 PM   UPDATE ON SNOW... cleared another 5 or so inches from front porch and steps

4:00 PM   UPDATE ON SNOW...cleared another 5 or so from back steps and patio

5:15  PM   UPDATE ON SNOW...the wind has increased considerably and snow is blowing and drifting.  I have drifts at least 3 or 4 feet in the driveway and it is still snowing.
