BOOK 08, CHAPTER 3, PAGE 11

Life is short, spring into action and live today’s beginning

The work of our souls is the real reason we are here, after all. The work of the world may put food in our bellies and clothes on our backs, but the work of our souls puts love in our hearts and joy in our lives.

There is an old saying that goes we all should: "Work to live, but live to love." People can do both. Machines never can.

Remember then to always love from your heart and work from your soul. Every time you share a smile at work God smiles as well.

Every time you bring a little laughter to those you work with you bring laughter to the angels as well. Every time you give a little love from your heart and joy from your soul you do the work of Heaven while still here on Earth.

The work of machines may make our lives better, but it is the work of our souls that make life worth living.

GOOD MORNING !

The day ahead looks to be a pretty good one. We will warm up above freezing and have a partly cloudy day. All is really pretty quiet here after all the excitement of our weekend snow storm .

I think that’s why I love ordinary days so much. That kind of excitement I can do with out. I know that all days be it Tuesday or Saturday are special and I really do value them all.

I must say that the snow piles in the parking lot at work made it very hard to get out and onto the road when I left yesterday. They have them piled up so you cannot see if another car is coming or not. I edged out slowly trying to look and got out safely, but today I think I’ll try and knock that pile down some. What were they thinking???

I’m off to work with a SMILE on my face (dreaming of the BEACH again) and am hoping for a great day! I do hope you all have a good one too!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

The best way to get something done is to begin.

Out to the undiscovered ends,

There's nothing worth the wear of winning,

But laughter and the love of friends.

GOOD MORNING !

I had a good birthday weekend… although a few people said that I didn’t have to be so generous and share my birthday gift with so many. I don’t really think of that snow storm we had as a gift, but then again, maybe it was. We just never know the reasons why things happen. I firmly believe that everything is in the dear Lord’s plan.

Today will be the last of the quiet weeks at work. Our men are back to work this week and that means more of everything to do here in the office. They were all off work almost a month, hope they got plenty rested up because we have a lot of work ahead of us.

Everyone I work with or for is younger than me so mostly I feel like their grand’ma’. It’s up to me to get what they need when they need it, to keep the books in tact and do all the reports and things they need.

Being a one woman office reminds me a lot of what it was like to have a large family. Keeping them all organized was a job in its self for sure.

Here is a bit of encourging news for all of you -- Sunday afternoon as I sat at my computer I saw our robin. She comes every year and builds a nest in the wreath that is at the peak of our porch. Spring must be on the way.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

In the spring I have counted one hundred and thirty-six different kinds of weather inside of four and twenty hours.

BOOK 08, CHAPTER 3, PAGE 9

Life is short, spring into action and live today’s beginning

O God, We thank you for this earth, our home; for the wide sky and the blessed sun, for the ocean and streams, for the towering hills and the whispering wind, for the trees and green grass.

We thank you for our senses by which we hear the songs of birds, and see the splendor of fields of golden wheat, and taste autumn's fruit, rejoice in the feel of snow, and smell the breath of spring flowers.

Grant us a heart opened wide to all this beauty; and save us from being so blind that we pass unseeing when even the common thornbush is aflame with your glory.

For each new dawn is filled with infinite possibilities for new beginnings and new discoveries. Life is constantly changing and renewing itself.

In this new day of new beginnings with God, all things are possible. We are restored and renewed in a joyous awakening to the wonder that our lives are and, yet, can be.

Amen.

I wake expectant, hoping to see a new thing.

Annie Dillard

GOOD MORNING !

We are Restored and Renewed in a joyous awakening to the wonder that our lives are and, yet, can be

It is R&R day once more. I really didn’t do much else yesterday either. It was very hard to work up any steam to do anything. I’d look outside and shiver…snow and wind blowing the snow and the drifts adding up to 3 and 4 feet just were unbelievable.

Of course there was a few moments of activity when I’d go out and clear some snow away from our doorway and steps but that was about it.

I think our winter storm finally played itself out and we can breathe a little easier today. We’ve lots to be thankful for in that there were no accidents for my family and friends anyway, and no one lost power here.

The wind and the snow kept most people indoors yesterday. I’m going to try and get to church this morning. DD has 4 wheel drive and if she goes to church this morning she’ll come and pick me up, if not I’ll see how the roads are.

They don’t usually do a very good job of clearing our church parking lot so I may just try and walk it if DD doesn’t go. By Monday morning it should be ok to drive to work.

DD and DS#5 and their spouses wanted to take me to Red Lobster yesterday for my birthday so I think they may still try to take me there this evening. We’ll see how the road conditions are.

The pictures above are inside and outside of my house yesterday.  You'll see that I have bits and pieces of Spring and St. Patrick's decorations here and there and you'll see the mounds of snow for sure. I tried to do the pictures the old way so I could put some explanations in but this will have to suffice as the other didn't work.  The gal in the pictures is my next door sister who was snow blowing the driveway.  You'll also see my beagle on the patio .  Poor boy had no place to run and play yesterday...

The first day of spring is one thing, and the first spring day is another.

The difference between them is sometimes as great as a month.

BOOK 08 CHAPTER 3, PAGE 8

Life is short, spring into action and live today’s beginning

It's only when we truly know and understand that we have a limited time on earth--and that we have no way of knowing when our time is up--that we begin to live each day to the future, as if it was the only one we had.

Elisabeth Kübler-Ross

GOOD MORNING !

Here I am celebrating another year of blessings and thanking the good Lord for them. I’m a grand 64 today! That is a long time to accumulate as many blessings as I’ve received and everyday of my life it seems I’m blessed with more.

I’ve had hard times just like most of you and I’ve been down and out too, but the really great thing is that I keep bouncing back and discovering that life really is worth living.

Life is like a long journey to me and what we do along the way is what counts. At the end of the trip, I’ll be finding out if I learned the lessons sent along the way and I can only hope that I have.

I have had some ‘earth shaking’ events in my life that have caused my deep appreciation for each day. I never miss a day with out telling those I love how much I do love them. I never fail to appreciate the things I have or for that matter what I don’t have.

There are lots of don’t haves that are sometimes worth more than the haves. For instance I don’t have any serious disabilities or illness in my life right now. AndI don’t have to worry about how I’m going to pay my bills as I’m blessed with a job right now. There is a lot to be said for don’t haves.

There will not be much celebrating done here today for my birthday. Everything is pretty much cancelled and closed as we’re having another winter storm. Thankfully it is the weekend and most people don’t have to go out.

We got quite a bit of snow overnight and our heaviest snow is supposed to be this morning and into the afternoon. Probably any celebrating will be done on a different day. If not, we’ll all be getting together next Saturday for our family Easter celebration so I’ll be able to see most of my babes then. Of course that is all weather related too so we’ll see…

9:00 AM  UPDATE ON SNOW....I just finished clearing what looks like another 10 inces of snow off the back steps and patio...my next door SISTER is out with the snow blower in the drive way.  We did about 5 inches last night.  The snow is still coming down heavy.  I'll update this as the day goes along.  This is a MAJOR SNOW STORM.

3:00 PM   UPDATE ON SNOW... cleared another 5 or so inches from front porch and steps

4:00 PM   UPDATE ON SNOW...cleared another 5 or so from back steps and patio

5:15  PM   UPDATE ON SNOW...the wind has increased considerably and snow is blowing and drifting.  I have drifts at least 3 or 4 feet in the driveway and it is still snowing.

BOOK 08, CHAPTER 3, PAGE 7

Life is short, spring into action

Now seeds are just dimes to the man in the store

And the dimes are the things that he needs,

And I've been to buy them in seasons before

But have thought of them merely as seeds;

But it flashed through my mind as I took them this time,

"You purchased a miracle here for a dime."

Edgar Albert Guest

Always begin anew with the day, much as nature does; it is one of the sensible things that nature does.

George E. Woodberry

GOOD MORNING !

IT IS F R I D A Y ! A red letter day in my books for sure.

I made it through another long and very hard (weather wise) week! Nature sure is teaching us a lesson—perseverance must be the name of it.

Tomorrow is my 64th birthday. Here in the good old USA they say that the magic age of 65 is when we should retire…I’m not sure If I ever will…

I’m still thinking on that one for sure. Age is irrelevant as far as I’m concerned, the only thing that keeps me working is the ability to pay my bills and live on my own without being a burden to anyone else.

If I ever win the lottery – I’ll quite work that minute. My job is not fulfilling or anywhere near something I like to do…it is what it is…a job.

Another big snow storm is headed our way today…We’ll see how this one treats us… I hope you all have a great day! I know I will…Fridays are always wonderful days….

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

Each day is a lifetime in miniature. To awaken each morning is to be born again, to fall asleep at night is to die to the day. In between waking and sleeping are the golden hours of the day. What we cannot do for a lifetime we can do for a daytime.

"Anyone," wrote Robert Louis Stevenson, "can live sweetly, patiently, lovingly, purely, till the sun goes down."

Anyone can hold their temper for a day and guard the words they speak. Anyone can carry their burden heroically for one day.

Anyone can strive to be happy for a day and to spread happiness around.

Anyone can radiate love for a day.

Anyone can rise above fear for a day and meet each new situation with courage.

Anyone can be kind and thoughtful and considerate for a day.

Anyone can endeavor to learn something new each day and mark some growth. . . .

The supreme art of living is to strive to live each day well. . . . Live a day at a time and remember that tomorrow is another today.

BOOK 08, CHAPTER 3, PAGE 6

Life is short, spring into action and live today’s beginning

You have choices to make every day.

One of those choices is to determine

what goes into your mind to help

to form the person who you are.

If you let in courage, compassion, love, hope, empathy,

peace, devotion, consideration and other such qualities,

just guess what's going to be coming out of you?

On the other hand, if you constantly fill your mind with hate,

anger, violence, murder, rape, revenge, torture, abuse,

prejudice and other such qualities,

guess what's going to be coming out of you?

You probably won't start acting like the characters

you see, but your perspective definitely will be

affected by what you've let into you.

We can only live our moments, not our years, and our days are full of moments that are just waiting to be used well, in ways that are fulfilling and wonderful.

GOOD MORNING !

I’m getting very grouchy…

As a matter of fact it is a good thing that I was alone in my office yesterday morning until almost noon. It took me that long to calm down and accept the fact that it is still winter after all.

I had tried to clear the walkways, but to little avail before I’d left for work. They were covered with snow with a 4 inch base of frozen ice! I had tried to clear the huge mound of snow and frozen ice at the foot of the driveway…did the snow plow come along and leave that there overnight???

It was so dog gone heavy that I couldn’t move it. Well I decided to get in the car and put it in reverse to see if I got out of the driveway. That would be the deciding factor as to whether or not I was going in to work.

The roads were very hazardous and it looked to me like no snow plow had been down any of the streets. I made my own path as I drove. How then did that huge pile of frozen ice get in our drive???

On my way to work I always stop and pick up a breakfast sandwich at our local drive thru…well I couldn’t get in their parking lot as they were just starting to plow the snow out…so there went breakfast.

After I got to work I had to shovel out the entrance to door way there as a plow had done our parking lot, but left a nice 2 foot mound in front of the door. Oh yes, that was frozen too !

I’m always the first to be there by about an hour or two sometimes more as was the case yesterday… and to make matters worse…it was put the rubbish out day.

Well you know where those rubbish bins were…right… behind another 2 foot pile of frozen ice…I cannot tell you how frustrated I was.

You don’t very often hear a rant from me but you have today… Worse yet my car got stuck in the icy driveway when I got home .

I do hope today is a better day!

BOOK O8, CHAPTER 3, PAGE 5

Life is short, spring into action and live today’s beginning

What a blessing it is to awaken to the unique possibilities of a new day.

The best things are nearest:

breath in your nostrils,

light in your eyes, flowers at your feet,

duties at your hand,

the path of God just before you.

Then do not grasp at the stars,

but do life's plain, common work as it comes,

certain that daily duties and daily bread

are the sweetest things of life.

Robert Louis Stevenson

You stand in this moment at a beautiful new beginning, full of promise and possibility. See it, know it, live it, and allow the joy to flow more abundantly than ever before.

Ralph Marston

GOOD MORNING !

Our daily duties can be awesome reminders of how alive we are, and just how simple life can be, and just how fulfilling life can be when it is simple. One of my favorite things in the world is to curl up with a cup of coffee, and English muffin, and a good book, and if I had to choose, I'd pick that over an expensive show or concert any day

The best things in life are free they say and although the cup of coffee , the muffin and the book may cost a little it is a simple thing .

My life has been filled with taking pleasure in simple things mainly because I’ve had very little money left over at the end of the week, but I don’t think I’d trade them for lots of other costly things.

Today we’re supposed to have some more snow . I’ll be taking it slow and easy on my way to work once more. I’ll be glad to be back home in my warm house tonight for sure.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

Have you ever noticed how almost everything works in cycles, from relationships to sports to the economy to the stock market? We almost never see anything grow continually for years and years--rather, we see things grow for a while, then the growth slows or even turns into shrinking, only to return to growth later.
