HAPPY NEWS BULETIN

Hello Everybody!

I'm at work, but just got a call from my Sister saying Dad had his surgery this morning.  Everything went very well.  He's back in his room and very alert and happy!  She said he's talking away and asking when he can go home...didn't she bring his clothes???  Tomorrow he may get to go home if all goes ok overnight, but he wants to go home now.

Thank you for all the prayers and good wishes and thank the dear Lord !

CHAPTER 1, PAGE 31

The single most thing that has been with me day in, day out, in sickness and in health, in sorrow and joy, in quiet moments and in celebration, in the depths of despair and the heights of the awesomeness of life, is my journal. You see, there's a special relationship between me and my journal that has yet to be found elsewhere.

Think about it: a journal doesn't disagree with you, doesn't argue back, doesn't criticize, is always there, and best of all, listens. My journal is my friend, my confidante. I have always been able to see things more clearly when I am writing them down. It calms me, and helps me to feel all the things that I'm trying not to feel. I don't seem to be able to fool myself when I write. It helps me see myself differently.

My journal is my reflection, a mirror to the inner part of me. When I look back over the pages at a later time I can relive the good, positive feelings I had about myself, When I write, it's really, really hard to lie. And when I do, I know full well what I'm doing. And word by word, journal by journal, I find that I am becoming more true... to my self.

Bits and pieces I found in articles about Journaling

GOOD MORNING !

The end of the 1st Chapter in my new book has come already. The next Chapter (February) is one of my favorite months of the year. There are so many things I can share with you . Topics like the heart and love have endless offerings.

Valentines of course will abound and I hope you’ll enjoy them.

It has been very cold all week with wind chills down around ‘0’ degrees and a few more inches of snow each day. Right now I’d say we have 6 to 8 inches accumulated. I’ve done some shoveling and my nextdoor sister has had her snowblower out too ! Good exercise for me…brrrchill !

I think I’d rather be enjoying the warm breezes on a beach somewhere, however, here I am and I truly am just thankful I can still lift that snow and heave it !

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

Time is too slow for those who wait, too swift for those who fear, too long for those who grieve, too short for those who rejoice, but for those who love, time is eternity.

CHAPTER 1, PAGE 30

God grant me the serenity

to accept the things I cannot change;

courage to change the things I can;

and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;

Enjoying one moment at a time;

Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;

Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is,

not as I would have it;

Trusting that He will make all things right

if I surrender to His Will;

That I may be reasonably happy in this life

and supremely happy

with Him Forever in the next.

Amen.

Reinhold Niebuhr

GOOD MORNING !

Do I really know what it means to be serene??? The definition that found said that it means to calm and untroubled—without worry, stress or disturbance.

No matter how hard I try there are days that just have NO serenity in them, other days it’s so calm that if I were any more serene I might as well be in heaven.

Finding a happy medium in all this really does mean that I don’t try and take control of circumstances I can have no control of and just put them in the hands of our dear Lord.

I’m off to work with a SMILE and lots of layers of clothing this morning and will try to remember that He that loves us all , has everything in control.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

Your smile tells everyone that you are happy!

Pass that smile on and watch it light up

the world from the inside out!

May your day be blessed with a few SMILES and lots of SUNSHINE to warm your heart !

MA

P.S.

Just wanted you to know my Dad has been fever free for 36 hours now and is still on ‘stand by’ for his surgery. I’ll only update you on his status if anything new happens.

CHAPTER 1, PAGE 29

A Star is Born

Gonna shout it from the mountaintops

A star is born

It's a time for pulling out the stops

A star is born

Honey, hit us with a hallelu

The kid came shining through

Girl, sing the song

Come blow your horn

A star is born

He's a hero who can please the crowd

A star is born

Come on ev'rybody shout out loud

A star is born

Just remember in the darkest hour

Within your heart's the power

For making you

A hero too

So don't lose hope when you're forlorn

Just keep your eyes upon the skies

Ev'ry night a star is

Right in sight a star is

Burning bright

a star is born

Lyrics by Ira Gershwin

GOOD MORNING !

Today a STAR was born.

Our ‘Star’ is seven years old today. He is the big brother of our Angel and our Pumpkin. He is my 3rd grandbabe and also one of 3 that were born in the year of 2000.

That was quite an eventful New Year for all of us. I remember all the talk of what would happen as  we started a new millennium..

The Year 2000 problem (Y2K, the millennium bug, and the Y2K Bug) was the result of a practice in early computer program design that caused some date-related processing to operate incorrectly for dates and times on and after January 1, 2000. (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

Everyone was relieved when we woke up January 1st and everything was still working. Life went on as usual.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

The moment when you first wake up in the morning is the most wonderful of the twenty-four hours.

No matter how weary or dreary you may feel, you possess the certainty that, during the day that lies before you, absolutely anything may happen.

And the fact that it practically always doesn't, matters not a jot. The possibility is always there.

CHAPTER 1, PAGE 28

Grant to us, O Lord,

the royalty of inward happiness,

and the serenity which comes

from living close to thee.

Daily renew in us the sense of joy,

and let the eternal spirit of the Father

dwell in our souls and bodies,

filling every corner of our hearts

 with light and grace;

so that, bearing about with us

the infection of good courage,

we may be diffusers of life,

and may meet all ills and cross accidents

with gallant and high-hearted happiness,

giving thee thanks always for all things.

Robert Louis Stevenson

Good Morning !

BRRRCHILL !

The Siberean Winds are coming our way !

That’s what the weather man said. Right over the artic and down to us. I’m off to church for my much needed dose of R & R this morning and then off to visit with Dad again.

We found out that he had the fever because of pneumonia. Yesterday his temps were normal so maybe the good dose of antibiotics they gave him cleared it up. I’ve heard of the dangers of pneumonia after surgery, but not ever before??? I don’t know what all this does to his status of getting the pacemaker, but maybe we’ll find out today.

This whole situation is beyond my comprehension. So I’ll be saying lots of prayers and trusting in God’s care.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

Don’t start your day by supposin’

That trouble is just ahead.

It’s better to stop supposin’

And start with a prayer instead.

CHAPTER 1 , PAGE 27

Our world remains a mystery, even to the most knowledgeable among us. We often look toward professionals, political leaders or celebrities for the answers to our problems with life and love, only to be disillusioned by their feet of clay.

If we are wise, we discover that our answers come only when we work them out for ourselves. Others may contribute to our understanding, but the acquiring of personal wisdom is always an inside job. No one can do it for us.

Additionally, knowledge often comes by way of ignorance, so we should all be challenged and encouraged by what we don't know.

Leo F. Buscaglia

GOOD MORNING !

I’m off to go in to see my Dad this morning.. We’ll go visit for awhile and hopefully bring a little sunshine to his day. Yesterday he should have had the pacemaker surgery, but he started running a temperature. Now it is put off til Monday if everything is ok. The good news is that he did get 3 meals.

He has to wait it out and cannot leave because his heart isn’t going to beat right with out it. They have a temporary pace maker patched onto him along with lots of other wires all over. He’s in the cardiac care unit and being monitored continuously.

We just never know what life will bring, so we really have to celebrate each day ! We may not thnk today is so great, but if we can can eat today, enjoy the sunlight today, mix good cheer with friends today,we should enjoy it and bless God for it

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

Nearly all the best things that came to me in life have been unexpected, unplanned by me.

CHAPTER 1, PAGE 26

The best six doctors anywhere

And no one can deny it

Are sunshine, water, rest,

and air Exercise and diet.

These six will gladly you attend

If only you are willing

Your mind they'll ease

Your will they'll mend

And charge you not a shilling.

Nursery rhyme

Good Morning !

Well my Dad is still waiting in the hospital for his surgery. They’ve put him on the ‘stand by’ list which must mean when they have time, they’ll do it. They have starved him 3 days in a row, thinking that today is surgery day and of course you can’t eat before surgery…then comes the end of the day they say maybe tomorrow and finally give him a little food and drink.

Maybe today will be the day…we’ll see. I’m off to work and brrrchill is it ever cold out this morning…I’ll be putting on the double layers of clothing today !

Thought for Today

A hug delights and warms and charms, that must be why God gave us arms.

CHAPTER 1, PAGE 25

Twas the month after Christmas, and all through the house

Nothing would fit me, not even a blouse.

The cookies I'd nibbled, the eggnog I'd taste

At the holiday parties had gone to my waist.

When I got on the scales there arose such a number!

When I walked to the store (less a walk than a lumber).

 I'd remember the marvelous meals I'd prepared;

The gravies and sauces and beef nicely rared,

The wine and the rum balls, the bread and the cheese

And the way I'd never said, "No thank you, please."

As I dressed myself in my husband's old shirt

And prepared once again to do battle with dirt---

I said to myself, as I only can

"You can't spend a winter disguised as a man!"

So--away with the last of the sour cream dip,

Get rid of the fruit cake, every cracker and chip

Every last bit of food that I like must be banished

"Till all the additional ounces have vanished.

I won't have a cookie--not even a lick.

I'll want only to chew on a long celery stick.

I won't have hot biscuits, or corn bread, or pie,

I'll munch on a carrot and quietly cry. I'm hungry,

I'm lonesome, and life is a bore---

But isn't that what January is for?

Unable to giggle, no longer a riot.

Happy New Year to all and to all a good diet!

GOOD MORNING !

I don’t know about a diet, but I’m certainly putting on a few pounds this winter.

My Dad will be having a pace maker put in for his heart. Please keep him in your prayers. My next door sister and I went to see him yesterday after work.

We had a very nice doctor explain how common this is. Just as common as arthritis he says. Hearts get old and the plumbing and electricity need some repairs and the pacemaker does the trick.

He said it usually happens between 75-80 years old. Dad is 83. He was very fortunate he just happened to have had a routine check up yesterday and they discovered his problem. Not sure yet when this will happen but soon. Getting old isn’t much fun sometimes, but Dad says if this makes him feel better he’s going to have it done.

I’ll be going into work but am on call . If my sister that cares for Dad hears that surgery is scheduled, I have permission to leave work and go in for the surgery with her. I know my being there won’t make much difference, but I’ll feel better . We’ll just have to wait and see …

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

With proper diet, rest, and exercise a healthy body will last a lifetime.

May your day be blessed with a few SMILES and lots of SUNSHINE to warm your heart !

CHAPTER 1, PAGE 24

Today I will delete from my diary two days: yesterday and tomorrow...

Yesterday was to learn and tomorrow

will be the consequence of what I can do today.

Today I will face life with the conviction

that this day will not ever return.

Today is the last opportunity

I have to live intensely,

as no one can assure me that I will see tomorrow's sunrise.

Today I will be brave enough not to let any opportunity

pass me by, my only alternative is to succeed.

Today I will invest my most valuable resource:my time,

in the most transcendental work: my life.

Today I will spend each minute passionately

to make of today a different and unique day in my life.

Today I will defy every obstacle that appears on my way,

trusting that I will succeed.

Today I will resist pessimism and will conquer

the world with a smile,

with the positive attitude of expecting always the best.

Today I will make of every ordinary task

a sublime expression.

Today I will have my feet on the ground,

 understanding reality and the stars'

gaze to invent my future.

Today I will take the time to be happy

and will leave my footprints and my presence

 in the hearts of others.

Today, I invite you to begin a new season

where we can dream that everything

we undertake is possible and we fulfill it,

with joy and dignity.

Good Morning !

Yesterday my Dad was admitted to the hospital. At a routine checkup they found an abnormality with his heart, so he’s in for observation and hopefully they’ll find out what’s wrong. I should know more later today. Please join me in saying a little prayer for him .

My sister that cares for him will be going in to be with him at the hospital and will let me know as soon as they know something for sure.

Of course , I’m off to work as it’s payroll day. I’m the only one that can do it, otherwise I might have taken off. It does seem that Dad will  probably need a pace maker put in and I'll be going to visit him this evening.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

CHAPTER 1, PAGE 23

People can be just like the weather.

One day they can be cool and the next day they can be warm. Some change from hour to hour, and some change from minute to minute. It's not easy to predict how people will treat you, but one thing is for sure: God loves them all.

From one of my Daily Devotionals

Good Morning !

We all know how unpredictable the weather can be and I think most of us know how unpredictable people can be too. One day someone may smile and hug and treat you like the best friend in the world, another day, they don’t even have time to share a word or two.

Because of this I try to keep some constants in my life that help me maintain some balance . I try to keep an optimistic attitude and ignore some of the rebukes and snubs I receive.

I read a lot, and what I read has to be uplifting even if it’s a mushy romance novel. I read alot on line…I’ve found that articles, devotionals and things I enjoy are there for free and thankfully I also have some people that share their used paperbacks with me too.

As there is no one here at home to greet me with a hug and a smile, I’m thankful for the ‘critters’ who never get tired of my hugs. They like the attention.

I also love journaling and sharing because it helps me feel connected to my family, friends near and far.

Counting my blessings every day is always priority for me and If there have been some failures in the day (and there often is ) I try to learn from them and move on. Blessings I remember, the rest is in the past and should be forgotten.

Last ,but not least, in my list of constants is leaving my concerns with the Lord and trusting Him to answer my requests.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

You've got to continue to grow, or you're just like last night's cornbread -- stale and dry.

CHAPTER 1, PAGE 22

It's not only children who grow. Parents do too. As much as we watch to see what our children do with their lives, they are watching us to see what we do with ours. I can't tell my children to reach for the sun. All I can do is reach for it, myself.

Joyce Maynard

GOOD MORNING !

When I read the quote above I thought about all the advice I’ve given my children over the years. I know that they do try to make the most of each day and I think they all have a great faith in God. But as I’m getting older, there is not a whole lot else I can tell them that they don’t think they already know more of.

Maybe they’ll look at what I’m doing now and someday remember how I’ve never given up and always strive to greet each day with a SMILE . That’s not too bad of a heritage to leave them – is it?

So with a SMILE on my face I’m off to work once more.

I owe, I owe, so it’s off to work I go !

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

Faith can move mountains, but don't be surprised if God hands you a shovel.
