BACK TO WORK!

Once a spider built a beautiful web in an old barn. She kept it clean and shiny so that flies would buzz a bit nearer. The minute she got a visitor she would clean up on it so the other flies would not get suspicious.

Then one day a fairly intelligent fly came buzzing by the clean spider web. The spider called out, "Come in and sit." But the fly said, "No, ma’am. I don’t see other flies in your house, and I am not going in alone!"

But presently the fly saw on the floor below a large crowd of flies dancing around on a piece of brown paper. It was delighted! It was not afraid if lots of flies were doing the same. So the fly came in for a landing.

Just before it landed, a bee zoomed by, saying, "Don’t land there, stupid, that’s flypaper!" But the fly shouted back, "Don’t be silly, those flies are dancing. There’s a big crowd there. That many flies can’t be wrong."

Well, you know what happened, the fly got stuck and died. Isn’t it strange how some of us want to be with the crowd so badly that we end up in a sticky mess.

What does it profit a fly (or a person) if it escapes the web only to end up stuck in the glue

 Good Morning !

It’s Trick or Treat at our house tonight. We always sit out on the porch at the top of the steps so that the little ones don’t have to come up to ring the doorbell…and besides that we get to see more that way.

It’s supposed to be very chilly this evening, so I’ll be dressing up in my Winter Coat. It is black after all !

Somewhere on a field’s edge

Where pumpkin vines grow thick

We’ll find a bright orage pumpkin

Exactly right to pick

We’ll take it home and scoop it out

And make the rounded eyes,

Triangle nose, and a grin so big

It could win a smile prize!

Down inside we’ll put a light

To shine out in the night,

And give our friends and passersby

A lovely kind of fright

Shining from our windowsill

Out upon the street,

A cheery jack-o-lantern grin

Makes Halloween complete

Have a safe and happy Halloween!

SUDDENLY SUNDAY

My Sunshine Babes go in search of the'Great' Pumpkin

Daylight Savings Time

By Phyllis McGinley

In Spring when maple buds are red,

We turn the Clock an hour ahead;

Which means, each April that arrives,

We lose an hour Out of our lives.

Who cares? When Autumn birds in flocks

Fly southward, back we turn the Clocks,

And so regain a lovely thing-- That missing hour

We lost last Spring

GOOD MORNING !

I think that lost hour has been calling my name…It’s called sleep ! It took all summer to adjust to that hour and now I’m doing it again ! I woke up at 5:30, but it was really 6:30…yesterday’s time, I’d better turn up the volume on my alarm clock for Monday morning – my internal clock will need time to adjust. We’re also supposed to changing our batteries in our smoke alarms today too ! It’s one of those things that might save your life someday !

Speaking of lifesavers – I’m off to church for my weekly dose of refreshing and renewing. Don’t forget to bless your spirit in someway today !

IT'S FINALLY FRIDAY !

The question, Which is the happiest season of life, being referred to an aged man, he replied:

"When spring comes, and in the soft air the buds are breaking on the trees, and they are coved with blossoms, I think, 'How beautiful is Spring!'

And when the summer comes, and covers the trees with its heavy foliage, and singing birds are among the ranches, I think, 'How beautiful is Summer!'

When autumn loads them with golden fruit, and their leaves bear the gorgeous tint of frost, I think, 'How beautiful is Autumn!'

And when it is sere winter, and there is neither foliage nor fruit, then I look up through the leafless branches, as I never could until now, and see the stars shine.

Unknown

GOOD MORNING !

Each season brings it’s own special beauty !

My Spring came as a young bride and mother. Everything new and beautiful!

My Summer came as a Mom of teens with a houseful of growing pains and joys!

My Autumn is now – golden , restful and blessed!

My Winter Season will come I know, and when it does, It will be wonderful too!

'THANKFULLY' THURSDAY !

Happiness is like a crystal,

Fair and exquisite and clear,

Broken in a million pieces,

Shattered, scattered far and near.

Now and then along life's pathway,

Lo! some shining fragments fall;

But there are so many pieces

No one ever finds them all.

You may find a bit of beauty,

Or an honest share of wealth,

While another just beside you

Fathers honor, love or health.

Vain to choose or grasp unduly,

Broke is the perfect ball,

An there are so many pieces,

No one ever finds them all.

Yet the wise as on they journey

Treasure every fragment clear,

Fit them as they may together,

 Imagining the shattered sphere,

Learning ever tobe thankful,

Though their share of it is small;

For it has so many pieces

No one ever finds them all.

P. Leonard

Good Morning !

Many times I’ve choosen to pick up the pieces and start all over again . New beginnings doesn’t necessarily mean that you leave all the old stuff behind. I ‘ve chosen to use some of the best parts of the past as foundations for my new beginnings.

I wouldn’t be happy at all without the memories and blessings of the past. Just as it’s so true that until we start counting our blessings, we don’t realize how blessed we are!

Parts and pieces of all of us are reflected to all those we meet. Hopefully, they’ll see some SPARKLES here and there .

OVER THE HUMP DAY !

Decide to be happy today, to live with what is yours - your family, your business, your job, your luck. If you can't have what you like, maybe you can like what you have.

Just for today, be kind, cheerful, agreeable, responsive, caring, and understanding. Be your best, dress your best, talk softly, and look for the bright side of things. Praise people for what they do and do not criticize them for what they cannot do.

If someone does something stupid, forgive and forget. After all, it's just for one day. Who knows, it might turn out to be a nice day

author unknown to me

GOOD MORNING !

Sometimes people don’t even realize how they sound when they talk. At work, I answer the phone and believe me, I hear it all. The only really cheerful people are the salesmen. One of the men that called in yesterday, sounded so weary that I just wanted to tell him to go home to bed. I often wonder what the people look like on the other end of the line too ! One fellow I’d spoken with for years, I pictured as an older man…when I met him finally, I found out he was young enough to be one of my sons.

I’m told that I have a very young sounding voice (the only part of me that hasn’t aged).People are often surprised when they meet me! And I’m also told, that I always sound happy ! That is a good thing. I try to always be courteous and cheerful. Just a few thoughts flowing through the dark crevices of my brain this morning !

I hope you all can keep a ***BIG SMILE*** in your speech and actions today ! It surely does make my day a lot brighter !

May your day be filled with Sunshine and Smiles !

Good News

What good is a college education

if you can’t stop and enjoy a sunset?

What good is a high paying job

if you don’t take the time to play with your children?

What good are goals

if you can’t be loving and kind to others?

What good are dreams

if you can’t smile and laugh with your friends?

What good are ambitions

if you don’t live a life of happiness,

joy, and oneness with God?

What good is working all your life

if you aren’t really living all your life

May we all live a life like that.

May we all live a life full of caring,

giving, sharing, helping, laughing, and loving.

May we all live knowing that life is joy,

 that God is love,

and that we are all one

When I stand before God at the end of my life,

I would hope that I would not have a single bit

of talent left, and could say,

I used everything you gave me.

GOOD MORNING

My Joy today is the fact that my loved ones came through the storm safe and sound. They said the noise was the freakiest thing about it all! Some wind tunnel!

Safely see you through whatever storms

Life may bring you !

BACK TO WORK !

Where does Mom keep her memories?

In a box worn beyond repair,

Tucked inside are memories,

Ask and she will gladly share

Tattered Valentines "To Mommy With Love,"

Papers boasting "Good Work... Well Done!"

A hand print small and fragile, Blue ribbons proudly won.

Macaroni shells that once formed a flower,

A baby picture smudged with kisses,

The first tooth the Fairy spared,

Cards of IOU's and loving wishes

Where does Mom keep her memories?

In a box this precious cargo rests

Reminiscent of days long past,

This box of love is her treasure chest.

GOOD MORNING !

Not only do I have bits and pieces from my children scattered throughout the house, my treasure boxes fill up a good portion of my basement…Bits and pieces of 27 years of marriage and 7 children. I don’t know if anyone will ever want these treasures, years from now, but I can’t part with them and so they stay on display and packed away. I do love to take a box off the shelf now and then and do some reminiscing.

Monday morning again ! It was a very fast weekend, but I did get a lot done! Sunday turned out to be a pretty nice day and after church, we were able to get out and clean up the yard and plant our bulbs. It will be fun to see them when they come up in the spring ! I took the lawnmower through all the leaves and mulched them up. The tree is almost bare now, so the next time I get the lawn mower out I’ll be mulching the neighbors leaves, they are just beginning to fall.

Our not so sunny ‘Sunshine’ babes are weathering out the storm and the pictures above were from Saturday when they were preparing for ‘Wilma’ .

I hope you all have a very Blessed Day !

SUDDENLY SUNDAY

As time goes on,

I am increasingly aware of God's presence.

I see unmistakable evidence of

His miracles within me and around me,

and my faith deepens with each new day.

Faith has brought great abundance to my life.

The knowledge that there is an all-powerful

guiding force has given me the ability to accept

changes in the outside world, and to experience

positive changes within myself that otherwise

would not have been possible

Faith gives me the confidence to go

forward even when I don't see the road ahead,

or can't understand why

I am being led in a particular direction.

When I turn to God in faith,

I am provided with peace of mind

and a sense of well-being,

no matter what the situation or circumstance.

Even when my emotions are awry

and my thoughts are confused,

I can count on faith to anchor and stabilize me

When I put my faith into practice,

it grows stronger.

The more I apply and depend on faith,

the more faith I have

Faith is to the soul what a "main spring" is to a watch

 Life is not measured by

the number of breaths we take;

but by the moments that take our breath away

  GOOD MORNING !

I’ve had lots of moments that took my breath away!

The day I got married and looked into my husband’s eyes as we said I DO

The moment I heard my first baby cry

The moments I heard the 2,3,4,5,and 6th babies cry for the first time

Watching my children graduate from College (they all worked so hard and I was so proud of them)

Holding my first grandchild

Holding my 2nd, 3rd,4th,5th, 6th,7th,8th,9th, and 10th grandchild

I know there were many many more but these came to mind just now. And I’m sure there will be many more.

I heard from Son #6 yesterday and they were off to a wedding (another friend getting married) He had a good business trip and got to see parts of the country He’d never been in before.

DD and hubby were moving their camper Saturday to the campground that we were at last weekend. It will now have a permanent site to sit on. Everyone really liked this campground. DS #1 and family will be moving theirs there too ! It seems to have all the desired facilities and they won’t have to haul it back and forth. Guess where I’ll be most weekends next summer! (That’s if the cost of gasoline doesn’t keep me at home)

The scones (recipe in yesterday’s entry) turned out to be very good ! Dad said maybe I left them in the oven a few more minutes than I should have, but everyone enjoyed them.

Well, I’m off to church now and Ill be thanking our dear Lord for my many blessings. Remember to bless your spirit today and give thanks for those special ‘moments’ too!

God is our stronghold

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,

the holy place where the Most High dwells.

God is within her, she will not fall;

God will help her at break of day.

Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts.

The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. :Selah.
